Severe Weather!- 2/23
Its a beautiful day today here in the Louisville area with highs in the 70’s and sunshine, weather that is not typical for the month of February. Things will yet again shift drastically today as highs tomorrow will not even get out of the 40’s. How is this shift occuring? This is thanks to a cold front that is sliding across the area that will bring about severe weather today.
What kind of severe weather is possible today?
Forms of severe weather that are possible today range from heavy rain/wind to an isolated tornado or two. At last check, the Kentuckiana area is under a slight risk for tornados and a moderate risk in general for severe weather. Hence, it is highly recommended that you keep a close eye to the sky starting around 5 p.m. and onward.
Will watches be issued and what do they mean?
Severe weather watches such as tornado and Severe Thunderstorm watches will more than likely be issued within the next couple of hours. This means that conditions are favorable for severe storms/tornados occur. Watches do not mean that there is one in your immediate area. Warnings mean that a storm or tornado is in your area and that you should seek shelter immediately!
If anything is issued, I will try my best to post it to Twitter/Facebook. If you hear the sirens go off, please take cover immediately!!!!!! Even if nothing occurs, it is WAY better to be safe rather than potentially injured.
First Christmas in a New Chapter
The year 2011 has been a crazy one in my life…and that is just placing it in the slightest form of words. If you have read my previous entry on here, then you know why this special time of year has taken on a new form in a different chapter of life. For those who don’t know, my mom passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 5:17 a.m. Saying that the year has been harder since then is an absolute understatement.
A Nightmare with Thanksgiving
There are particular days in one’s life that will always seem to stick out in our minds more than others. For my generation, one already comes to mind: September 11,2001. Most people of my generation were either ending their elementary school career or beginning a new chapter in middle school when tragedy struck. Most remember watching the T.V. in utter shock or left to question the significance of the unfolding events. This is just one example though. Personally, I’m sure that many of us have more of those days that caused us to alter who we are or what we do for the rest of our lives.
Yet another one of those unforgettable, life altering September days arrived very early on Saturday, September 24, 2011 for myself.
Many Thanks for Much Support
As of recent times, most people have probably noticed that I have been a little stressed out. This is mainly due to the health condition of my mother. Currently, she is in the hospital and all that we know as of right now is that she has a leaking heart valve. Realize that this is not a post in which to try to lure its readers to the authors level and cause them to feel sorry for him. However, this is one that I want to express thanksgiving.
On behalf of my mother and my family, thank you to everyone. We are so thankful for everyone’s encouraging posts on my personal Facebook wall, text messages, visits and prayers. It is so awesome to be in a community in which expresses the agape love that we see so much of in the Word but not in the world. Again, thank you and please follow me on Twitter or my Facebook for more about my mother’s health condition.
I’m not ashamed……or am I?
Typically, I fail to glance at the ‘Verse of the Day’ which comes to me via twitter, Bible Gateway, or Zondervan’s Daily e-mail. Yet, there was a stark difference for this Sunday morning at 2 AM. Having to sadly admit my own absence from being in the Gospel, I decided to turn my eyes upon it via biblegateway.com. The verse for this particular day is one of those that we can (for a lack of better words) erase from our memory to escape conviction.
Evolution of Technology: Gadget Parent
It was envisioned back in the 1980’s or 1990’s that every desk would contain a P.C. While the P.C. has had an instrumental influence upon all of our lives beginning in the mid-1990’s with the invention of the internet, the title of mainstream influence has clearly been passed to technology giant Apple. Apple products have become more prevalent ever since the invention of the iPod back in 2002 or 2003.
Real repentance is a change of heart that results in a change of behavior…

Humbling Thoughts about being Truly in God
Note from JM: The following is from the devotional “My Utmost for His Highest” by Oswald Chambers. In this devotional for June 28, Chambers reminds us that in every little thing that we do especially in relation to the Gospel God is still holding on to us. By holding on to us Chambers expresses how God guides us as to what we need to do and how we need to be reminded of who we are as we share: a sinner saved by grace through the atonement in Christ. Without no further a due, here is what Chambers has to say about “Held by the Grip of God.”
Never choose to be a worker for God, but once God has placed His call on you, woe be to you if you “turn aside to the right hand or to the left” (Deuteronomy 5:32). We are not here to work for God because we have chosen to do so, but because God has “laid hold of” us. And once He has done so, we never have this thought, “Well, I’m really not suited for this.” What you are to preach is also determined by God, not by your own natural leanings or desires. Keep your soul steadfastly related to God, and remember that you are called not simply to convey your testimony but also to preach the gospel. Every Christian must testify to the truth of God, but when it comes to the call to preach, there must be the agonizing grip of God’s hand on you— your life is in the grip of God for that very purpose. How many of us are held like that?
Never water down the Word of God, but preach it in its undiluted sternness. There must be unflinching faithfulness to the Word of God, but when you come to personal dealings with others, remember who you are— you are not some special being created in heaven, but a sinner saved by grace.
“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do… I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14).
